#0010 – Apologia Science

If you are looking for a comprehensive science curriculum you’ve probably already been told to look at Apologia. But maybe you’d like a little more information. Daniel shows you how the different books and CDs work together, explains how other families have used Apologia and qualifies which students are likely to thrive with Apologia – and which students may not.

Behind The Scenes

  • This is our first video shot on our green screen. You’ll see more!
  • Daniel is also known as The Other Dan, especially when people think they are talking to Dan The Boss!

Apologia Science

From Our Store:

Not only does this in-depth curriculum, (Apologia Young Explorers)  with its gorgeous full-color pictures and captivating, God-exalting text, sparkle in comparison to the mainstream dry-bones science program, it utilizes what we believe is the most sensible method to teaching science, the immersion approach… Buy Apologia Now Here!

#0009 – Dot to Dots and Man on the Street Interviews

Man-on-the-street interviews with some of our Timberdoodle employees – who can recognize the Dot-To-Dot taking shape?

Hope explains why Dot To Dots are great learning tools, and what makes this the best Dot To Dot series in print.

Convinced? Buy yourself or your kids a copy at http://www.timberdoodle.com/Dots

Behind The Scenes

  • Nabbing coworkers for the interviews was the best part, they all did a great job!
  • These books are not just for kids, adults around the office have been voluntarily pitching in “check the designs” – even on lunch breaks!

The Greatest Dot to Dot Book in the World

From Our Store:

Both your child’s left and right brains will be exercised as he works to complete puzzles with 500 to over 1,400 dots. And these puzzles are not just for children. Many adults, myself included, find these books both provoking and relaxing, a treat for sluggish minds and weary bodies… Buy it now for only $5.95! (at the time of this post)

#0008 – Testing New Products for Timberdoodle’s Summer 2010 Catalog

Dozens of products must be evaluated before we print our 2010 Curriculum Catalog. Watch this video to get a glimpse of the review process here at Timberdoodle. Best of all, 4 young relatives ranging in age from nearly 2 to 7 explored, experimented, and tested a wide array of exciting new products from construction to music to scooters and more!

Check back in April to see how many of these products make it onto our website. Better yet, sign up for our free catalog and stay in the loop: http://www.timberdoodle.com/FreeCatalog

Behind The Scenes

  • We were delighted when our gracious relatives loaned us their girls for the afternoon. The session went way beyond any of our expectations and everyone enjoyed the time!
  • Watching the children play was very insightful, especially since they have a nice wide range of personalities, ages, and interests. (It would have been lovely to have boys involved too, but the one brother was down for a nap… Oh well!)
  • There were so many cute moments and lots of helpful ‘real-life’ exploring and experimenting. In fact, we expect you to see more of these kids on future vodcasts  as we demo and explain the products that passed muster.

#0007 – Homeschool Conferences: Special Offers and Amusing Problem

Conferences can be a blast, but what if Timberdoodle didn’t make it to yours? Where do you find the conference-specific special offers from us? Grace will show you exactly what to expect! If you are part of planning a conference, don’t forget to contact us to provide free catalogs for your attendees!

Behind The Scenes

  • We were so impressed with the gracious and helpful coordinators at this, our first conference of the year. If any of you are located in the Bellingham area, you may want to check them out: http://www.whatcomhomeschool.org/
  • Because of the conference we didn’t preshoot this session, and now I have one more reason to try to do that. None of us noticed the aircraft flying over during the shoot, and it was too late to redo…
  • Despite our attempts to verify door size before making the trek to this conference we were alarmed to find that our display shelves couldn’t quite fit even through the backup door. This crew volunteered to disassemble the door and carry the carts up for us. There was a brief moment of horror though when they realized we’d brought not one or two, but three of these monster shelves!

#0006 – Imaginets: Fun Preschool Thinking Skills Magnetic Kit

Parents of preschoolers know that it can be a challenge to keep these restless winds entertained in a productive manner. Imaginets does just that, while building fine-motor skills, problem solving ability, an ability to follow directions and interpret patterns. Imaginets’ brilliantly colored magnets stick securely to the wooden case which doubles as a white-board.

Behind The Scenes

  • We emailed a couple local families with young children to see if any of them would be interested in reviewing Imaginets and sending us video of their kid(s) using it. Judah & Cohen’s mom responded literally within minutes, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Don’t you agree?
  • Judah did a terrific job of introducing himself but my favorite part is Cohen’s introduction. “Me, 2.” So cute!

From Our Store
In our rush to teach our children how to read and do math, it is easy to overlook the importance of teaching our children how to think. That is akin to putting the cart before the horse, as thinking skills are a vital part of reading and math. If we neglect to teach our children how to think we make education a more arduous process than it needs to be… Read More About Imaginets Or Buy Some Here. (Retail: $29.95, on sale for only $19.95 at the time of this post.)
