#0014 – Mashoonga Swords

Foam swords? Really? We were skeptical too, until we saw them in use. Mashoongas are amazing foam sabers built around sturdy polycarbonate core tubes that are both lightweight and flexible. Not merely a fast-paced high-energy contest of attack and self-defense moves, Mashoonga’s game rules give it structure, differentiating it from mere horseplay. Mashoonga is a sport that will strengthen your child’s tactical skills, their eye-hand coordination, and build their stamina. When the rules are faithfully enforced Mashoonga is a friendly, safe, yet competitive contact game of ancient combat skills.

Behind The Scenes

  • Talk about funny; shooting this video was absolutely hilarious. Some of us laughed ’til we cried!
  • Until we replayed the footage, no one could agree who’d won the first few rounds. Daniel did, but only by 1/2 a second.
  • The interviews were almost as fun as the contest. We now talk about Look of Death around the office.

Mashoonga Swords

From Our Store:

“Our Mashoonga Sabers Set, surprisingly enough, has been one of our hottest sellers at homeschool conferences. Is this indicative of the stress homeschooling parents feel or the pleasure they anticipate seeing their children off the couch and outside engaged in vigorous play? Or maybe it was because, as one fellow vendor remarked, “I’m tired of getting hit in the knees with a wooden sword…” Buy Mashoonga Now!

#0011 – Little Sorting Caterpillar

We spent hours comparing shape sorters; have you ever considered just how many are out there? Some only had a few pieces, some felt yucky or fragile right out of the box, while others were just plain unattractive. The Little Sorting Caterpillar was a clear winner, because in addition to being well-built of beautiful wood and having an amazing 13 pieces The Little Shape Sorting Caterpillar offers different levels of play. With so many different components this is truly a tool that grows with your child for hours of use. Of course, it is also sturdy enough to be passed on to countless siblings when your toddler is done with it – or turn it over to the church nursery!

Behind The Scenes

  • We are delighted to have friends who let us demo products with their children. Devyn is 2, isn’t she sweet? Watch for more video of her and her sister Hayden in weeks to come.
  • This is taken from our soon-to-be-announced Toddler Curriculum. The whole thing will be arriving on our site in the next two weeks.

Little Sorting Caterpillar

From Our Store:

“Like all shape sorters, the friendly-faced Shape Sorting Caterpillar will teach your child to observe the difference between several shapes and fit them into their respective holes. But it is the ingenious addition of the removable pegs that expands the life of this puzzle…” Buy The Little Sorting Caterpillar Now Here!

#0006 – Imaginets: Fun Preschool Thinking Skills Magnetic Kit

Parents of preschoolers know that it can be a challenge to keep these restless winds entertained in a productive manner. Imaginets does just that, while building fine-motor skills, problem solving ability, an ability to follow directions and interpret patterns. Imaginets’ brilliantly colored magnets stick securely to the wooden case which doubles as a white-board.

Behind The Scenes

  • We emailed a couple local families with young children to see if any of them would be interested in reviewing Imaginets and sending us video of their kid(s) using it. Judah & Cohen’s mom responded literally within minutes, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Don’t you agree?
  • Judah did a terrific job of introducing himself but my favorite part is Cohen’s introduction. “Me, 2.” So cute!

In our rush to teach our children how to read and do math, it is easy to overlook the importance of teaching our children how to think. That is akin to putting the cart before the horse, as thinking skills are a vital part of reading and math. If we neglect to teach our children how to think we make education a more arduous process than it needs to be… Read More About Imaginets Or Buy Some Here. #0005 – Geocards: New Geography Game

Geocards are brand new to our warehouse and website! The jumbo, sturdy flashcards are a terrific way to learn some of the features of the states/countries with easy to learn games. We still think Geopuzzles are the best way to learn locations, but if you’re ready to learn more, Geocards are the next step!

Behind The Scenes

  • Daniel’s children Jotham and Rachel helped us review Geocards when we first pulled them out of the box, testing out most of the games.  On the Friday we wanted to film Geocards for you Daniel brought Jotham to work for the day making it a perfect opportunity to give you a clear demo!
  • It was such a beautiful day that we couldn’t resist filming outside the office – we even have crocuses coming up here! However, despite our windscreen you’ll hear a bit of wind in the last few moments of the vodcast – I didn’t hear it until I was working with it in post. Oh well, that’s Washington for you!

Geocards USA

From Our Store
On a snowy afternoon in Wisconsin, GeoToys founder and president Bob Galinsky came up with Geocards: a set of five games to reinforce geography facts. This father who invented the GeoPuzzles to help his three children learn geography had discovered another exciting way to introduce additional essential geography details to young children… Read More About Geocards Or Buy Some Here.
